Distance Counseling and Telecommunications

The world is changing, and with it relationships and communication. As medical practice has expanded to include "telemedicine" as a viable option, behavioral health has grown to include "distance counseling" (also known as "telemental health" practice).

Some situations and issues are appropriate for a "distance counseling" and some are not.  To discuss this option, please call or email for a free consultation.  Distance counseling is limited to self-pay, individual adult clients without risk or safety concerns.

Kate Hermanson, LPC, NCC has completed additional training on the ethical and legal issues related to technology, distance counseling, and social media.  In compliance with the ACA Code of Ethics, we inform our clients about the strengths and limitations associated with virtual sessions.
We use Doxy.me- a platform for healthcare providers meeting current encryption standards for technology-based communications. Our methods for "distance counseling" are HIPAA and HITECH compliant.  Your confidentiality and privacy is important to us!
